Gray Wedding Photography at The Cove

Updated: Aug 25, 2019

The Cove Wedding open day was recently held over two days on the weekend of the 3rd & 4th August, as part of the South Coast Wedding Fair, Wedding Trail.

Our guests, couples, those dreaming, the ones planning and the curious came and experienced the magic of what a wedding at The Cove could look and feel like. With our chilled out coastal vibes and whimsical bush and beach back drops, they seen and felt it all - from sand in their toes, sea breeze through their hair, sun kissing their skin, the sound track of native animals and waves crashing, with the fire pits roaring, sun and stars shining. There was live music, food, and onsite wedding vendors sharing their creative talents, talking all things YOUR vision for YOUR magical moment. Collectively we created an epic weekend of wedding goodness with ceremony and reception set ups and soo much more!

Gray Wedding Photography was on site during The Cove Wedding Open Weekend capturing all the magic and we are here to give you a sneak peek of his incredible eye for freezing moments in time and to share a little more about the man behind the lens.

Tell a little about who you are and what you do?

My business name is Gray wedding photography. I mostly just operate using my name, Michael Gray. I started photographing weddings 10 years ago, and am addicted to capturing authentic photos that will help people to remember how they were feeling in that moment. I love meeting people and getting to know them, and have made a life around celebrating massive promises with wonderful people and wouldn't change it for anything :)

What is it that you love about The Cove and why do you recommend it for Weddings?

Ive been very lucky, photographing weddings all over Europe and South America, and a bunch of islands in the pacific... But there is no place like Australia. The Beaches, the bush, the afternoon sun, the smells and the sounds. The cove is truly one of the most incredible venues Ive been to, because it is everything Australia is most proud of, in one spot. When we arrived we were greeted by a half dozen kangaroos, I saw a spotted quoll and kookaburras laughed overhead. My wife and I walked down to the beach and immediately saw hundreds of soldier crabs scurry out of the way, pelicans swimming by us, the smell of salt, and in that moment it just made us so grateful that we can call this home. The Cove has done such a wonderful job preserving the natural beauty and feel of the place, while also creating a space that feels luxurious but not over the top, intimate without feeling crowded and private without feeling isolated. Not only that, but given its capacity to sleep so many people, it thrives in creating a weekend out of a wedding, something I adored about our own wedding, and something I could not reccomend more as a piece of advice! Your wedding day goes by so quickly, there is such beauty in having a few days either side to spend time with your friends and family. Light up the bbq, play some lawn games, go for a canoe in the inlet or surf at the beach. cuddle up and watch a movie, cook marshmallows on the fire. Honestly if Jane and I could get married again, there isnt a single place else that we would look. Its as close to a perfect venue as ive seen. And ive been lucky enough to have photographed over 400 weddings! I was at the cove on the weekend to take photos of the venue, and of the vendors setting up a wedding scene. What I captured were a lawn full of people, having a genuinely great time in the sun, with a backdrop that is postcard worthy, in a perfect little corner of the world. Add some good food, good music and good people... I truthfully could not think of a more magical place to get married.
