Kelly is a photographer and film maker, owner of Life In Focus Films & Photos. A 33 year young Creative, enjoying life as a mother, wife and chasing memories on the NSW South Coast. Self proclaimed sun seeker and music lover, who describes herself as a bit of an introvert and bit of an extrovert, who loves a not so sneaky French Champagne.
We recently invited Kelly, her husband and two daughters to come stay here at The Cove, to capture and share her honest experience as a family holiday destination - below she candidly shares what its really like to stay at The Cove for families, in her words, photos and film.
An experience like no other...
As we travelled into the national park we got taken down a magical dirt road, Slowly travelling past true Australian bush and Forrest. We were greeted by echidnas, wallaby’s, kangaroos and bird life as we escaped further away from the busy life we left behind. Arrival at The Cove felt as if we had arrived to paradise, almost hard to comprehend such a place existed at the end of our journey through Booderee National Park.
No detail is left behind, the owners have truly thought of everything. Staff are extremely hard working and attentive; they’re down to earth, inviting and happy to help in any way possible.
The accommodation is homely, and attention to detail with interior design is gorgeous. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Surf shack, it was perfect for our family.
I loved that the kids could spend their time riding their bikes around and explore. Giant Jenga and Chess located in the village green created ebs and flows of other guests enjoying the pace of The Cove.
The kids kept us busy, (busier than one on holiday would like) but the adventures and activities we shared I know they will remember.
Fishing, kayaking, SUP, making sandcastles, swimming and playing. A time for connection between loved ones, play, sun and sand. You’re own private inlet just a few steps from your accommodation.
What I LOVED...
I would have to say the Staff! and the staff at the cove are something special. They are incredible, generous, kind, attentive, and super hard working. Always busy, making sure every detail is perfect for their guests. Forgot olive oil? We got you. Bit of rain, kids are bored? Come check out all the board games we have. Want to borrow a SUP? coming now! They really do need a shout out, because they really made our stay extra special.
We also loved the wild animals that shared our space, kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, pelicans, possums and quolls.
The inlet (beach) is perfect for young families, it’s safe and intimate, just a few steps from your door perfect for all the water adventures.
I would Absolutely recommend The Cove, it was such a unique experience. Honestly the best family holiday we have had.
Life in Focus Films and Photos was established in 2018 having spent many years being a professional photographer for Pregnancies, Families, Births, Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversary’s.
"Motherhood has played a major role in the development of Life In Focus Films and photos. As I watched my children grow and evolve, there was a fear and feeling that something was missing. I was blessed enough to capture professional images of both my children but would find myself shifting through bad quality iPhone videos to get any type of real connection to specific times in our lives. It was their laugh at tickle time, the way they proudly dressed themselves, the time they spent together playing as I spied on them from the other side of the room. Now, The brain has an amazing capacity to store what’s important, but the minute details of their cheeky grin, a belly giggle, holding their fathers hand and their tiny bodies swinging in the air at the park were moving images and sounds that were hardest to recall.
The generation of family films had been lost somewhere along the way even though technology got better. A generation of mothers filming short clips on their phones to be stored away in the ether never to be seen again. I saw a movement happening with videos for weddings, they were beautiful, I would find myself sobbing at my laptop at someone elses wedding I didn’t even know. It got me thinking, why is this not a thing? why are we investing in capturing our wedding day so perfectly but not the simplicity of family togetherness? just another day? priceless memories? The wobbly walk, the mispronunciation of words, the milestones, connection and fun.
I guess filming families was my driving force into studying film and from that I have grown and evolved.
This year I have started another amazing avenue of my business, I help small businesses tell their unique stories and passions. I capture and create branding content for small business capturing their passion and turning it into engaging marketing content for online viewing."
