We are always getting asked what things we recommend in and around Jervis Bay, when it comes to planning days out and keeping the little (& big) ones amused, that will entertain the whole family.

So if you're feeling like venturing out and looking for suggestions on what to do, then we have made your life a little easier, with this awesome list of our top family friendly activities in and around Jervis Bay.


Valhalla Horse Riding Located just minutes away in Jervis Bay, Valhalla Horse riding offers trail rides through local bushland. (02) 4447 8320

Regal Riding School Located in Coolangatta, a 40 minute drive from Jervis Bay. Regal Riding School offers horse trail rides through both the bush and on the beach, with an option of group and individual riding lessons, if you're wanting to brush up on your skills. 0417 317 325

Shoalhaven Zoo is located in Nowra and is the largest Native Animal Park on the NSW South Coast. Not just home to natives though, Shoalhaven zoo has lions and more! Come, visit, explore! with off the track trails around the Zoo for the daring, a farm yard and petting area, animal feeding, personal up close zoo experiences, keeper talks, a giant slide, coffee shop, BBQs/picnic area and soo much more. Trees Adventures Located inside Shoalhaven Zoo (but a separate entity) tree top adventure park offers flying foxes and zip-lining for all level; from children as young as 4 years old through to the experienced and daring. You’ll get a chance to see the camels from the tree tops, fly through the air and scramble on the rock face on Australia’s First Cliff Edge adventure park along the banks of the Shoalhaven River. Trees adventure has a picnic area set beside the river and among the exotic zoo life, so pack your lunch and go, go go. (02) 4421 4830

Mini Golf located just minutes away in Huskisson, Mini Golf is a great outdoor activity for the whole family, including the littlest of humans. (02) 4441 5135

Shoalhaven Skirmish Offers laser tag, archery, paint ball and bubble soccer. If you're looking for adrenaline pumped fun then this is where it's at. (02) 4447 8064


Whale Watching From May - November each year, Jervis Bay is a well known hot spot for whale watching. The calm waters of the bay offer whales (especially mother and calf) a safe place to rest and play during migration.

Dolphin & Scenic Cruise' ( all year round, with sometimes spotting seals and penguins! )

We have two local business' who provide these incredible experiences, showcasing our stunning white sand beaches of Jervis Bay, coast line surrounding and Booderee National Park from the waters view. Jervis Bay is also home to one of Australia's largest bottle nosed dolphin population, with frequenting pods the migrate up and down the coast ( including the false killer whales, who have been known to visit the Bay.

Surfing, Kayaking & Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Whether you want to go on a guided local tour via SUP or Kayak, grab some Surfing lessons at Caves Beach or hire out a board or kayak for as little as 1 hour or up to a full day ( with delivery and pick up from location! ) for a day of fun and adventure on the water in the Bay.

Diving & Snorkeling

Whether you want to hire some snorkeling gear to skim across the calm waters of Jervis Bay to discover the beauty beneath the surface or for the more daring, a Diving Lesson and Deep Sea Tour and get up close and personal with the under world of the ocean.

Fishing Charters & Boat Hire

Whether you're a keen fisherman or wanting to give it a go for the first time, here's a few locals who can take you out on the water, help you catch a fish or two and show you the ropes or give you a boat, if you already got the gear and know how.

Swimming Pools

Whether it's in the outdoor sea pools, the local indoor aquatic centre or on a slide, we got you covered with all the deets on where to go, if you're looking for a beach alternative.

  • Bay & Basin Leisure Centre has free wifi, a cafe, gym, creche, heated spa and pool, slide, lap pool and general swimming/splash pool, lessons, classes and more - its you're one stop spot for swimming, fun and fitness. (02) 4406 2022

  • Huskisson Sea Pools are free to all, with a fenced 1m - 1.5m pool and a small children's pool. These pools are not staffed and swimming is at your own risk. Children must be supervised.


Huskisson Pictures is Jervis Bay's local Movie Theatre, conveniently located in the hub of the bay, Huskisson. Showing all the new release movies, a shop for all your popcorn, choc top and lollie needs. Husky Pictures is worth a visit, just to see this beautifully restored building, that was originally constructed in 1913 and has been showing movies since the 1950s! It also the winner of best commercial garden in both local and district competitions.

Jervis Bay Maritime Museum Jervis Bay's local Museum is worth the visit! featuring world renowned maritime artefacts, a range of maritime and local historical exhibits. The home of the one and only famous "Lady Denman" ferry and more historic vessels. Located in Huskisson, the Museum is on a waterfront location on Currambene Creek and the complex includes a large recreation area with a BBQ, Picnic area, native gardens, a mangrove boardwalk, fish feeding pond, boathouse and historic buildings. Fleet Air Arm Museum The Australian Fleet Air Arm Museum, formerly known as Australia's Museum of Flight, is a military aerospace museum located at the naval air station HMAS Albatross, near Nowra, New South Wales. (02) 4424 1920

Funland Ulladulla Funland Ulladulla offers a fun filled experience, with an arcade packed with video games and ride simulators, laser tag, dodgems, indoor play centre, soft play for the littlies, kids rides, super tube ride and sooo much more! (02) 4454 3220

Flip Out Nowra For all you're indoor jumping and trampoline fun, with a seating and coffee shop area for the parents to relax (02) 4423 6324

Shoalhaven City Lanes offers Ten Pin Bowling, arcade games and pool tables. Located in Bomaderry (Nowra) (02) 4422 1200

Matty's Play Time is an indoor play centre, with jumping castles, a coffee shop and a toy shop located at the the front (02) 4423 5447


Lawn Bowls Husky Sports club located in Huskisson, has you covered for all your lawn bowls needs. (02) 4441 5135

The Country Club has you covered for Golf in Jervis Bay. Located in both Vincentia and St Georges Basin, each club has beautiful lush greens, cart and gear hire. (02) 4443 0666

The Cove is a secret hideaway tucked into the Booderee National Park and surrounded by the incredible turquoise waters of Jervis Bay. With the surf on one side and the calm waters of Sussex Inlet on other, this really is Paradise. Come here to fish, surf, adventure, say “I do” or hand feed a roo, take part in a retreat, conference or event – its Paradise however your time is Spent . After a beautiful 13 kilometre drive through the rainforests of Booderee (Jervis Bay) National Park you arrive at Paradise - The Cove. The sound of the ocean replaces the noise of traffic, native wildlife abounds as kangaroos hop through the grounds and native parrots skim through trees, the backdrop is of forest not buildings. While The Cove can be used as a base to explore the historic surrounding districts, its relaxed atmosphere and tranquil beachfront location surrounded by Booderee National park lead most guests to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of swimming, bushwalking, boating, reading and in the evening meeting fellow guests at the central barbecue facilities. Put simply, just relaxing! All within an easy drive!

We offer 1, 2 & 3 bedroom self contained holiday cabins as well as a large house for bigger groups.  There are 15 cabins in total, plus the large house. Our eco cabins, cottages and units are all fully equipped with linen, bath towels, cutlery and crockery and all open onto shaded decks, most with views over landscaped grounds. Accommodation is self catering and facilities include a central BBQ area and children's playground as well as direct beach access and boat ramp. Individual lodging is available for as few as two people and as many as sixteen.

Fancy doing something a little bit different? Come to The Cove and GLAMP!   - Stay in a gorgeous canvas (and yes, waterproof!) bell tent already pitched and ready and waiting for you. Furnished with a beautiful king size bed, Pony Ride cushions, an outdoor table and two deck chairs, a daybed (can be used as an extra bed) and some cute little touches. The glamping tents have a communal bathroom of three showers, three toilets  and one luxe bath under the stars (but private) which is shared by all the tents, shampoo, conditioner, body wash is included. There is an outdoor chill out space with a communal table and chairs, and a BBQ and camp kitchen with microwave, kettle, cups, plates, cutlery, chopping boards and knives etc.
